Arne Jacobsen in Hamburg
Hamburg is considered a particularly beautiful city. This is only partially true.
Architecturally, Hamburg does not offer many highlights. For example, there is very little substantial Bauhaus architecture. Even buildings in the style of brutalism are a rarity in Hamburg. And existing substance is partially demolished, as you could observe in Hamburg City North.
Arne Jacobsen was a representative of functionalism, which left its mark on Hamburg during the 1960s and 1970s.
This series deals with the Christianeum in Hamburg-Othmarschen. The building was designed by Jabobsen as a school from the beginning. It was completed only after his death in 1971. This building polarizes people very much. There are many voices that would rather tear it down. However, I could not escape his charm from the start.
