Everything starts with an idea.
Or... in reality - with a script or a recorded voice-over:
Then I spend a while (literally) thinking on video ideas. It can take ages, really :-) But sooner or later - the client wakes me up from my dream castles, and it's time to start making the real thing.
So I start drawing sketches I thought of, collecting & grabbing similar and inspiring information from the web, making prototypes, and building my "dreamy castles" in reality.
So, here comes the Sketch:
Everything is animated as it should be, with the Voice-over playing in the background. So we've got a first animation prototype that we can show to client. This way we can know if the direction we're going is right and if animation looks good in a draft stage.
Then the drawing stage begins!
Something I draw myself in Illustrator or Photoshop, something we buy on stocks, something is just found on the web and redrawn to fit the needed style.
It's a lot of work, but it should be done good to look good.
And as we have already done the animation drafts, now it's very easy to replace draft graphics with final ones, tune animation, add effects and micro features that make the project final.
Then we go making audio - adding sound FX (if any), adding music (usually buying royalty-free on stocks), mixing and mastering for broadcast.
And then - mixing every ingredient into one final video and we're done!
Hope you enjoyed the backstage.
