In this project, I wanted to highlight the extreme changes that the city of Pittsburgh has gone through in recent years, both culturally and economically. Focusing on the area of East Liberty for its recent renovations and resulting gentrification of its long-terms residents, I took photos of the areas as they are now and edited them together with images of Pittsburgh from the 1950s, putting the people, buses, and cars of the past in a modern setting. While some buildings and areas have been maintained since then, there is a striking difference in what Pittsburgh, especially East Liberty, looks like now.
