DGMD S-44: 2D Animation Samples
DGMD S-44:

This summer I wanted to expand my animation toolbox and improve my skills in traditional 2D animation techniques. I took DGMD S-44 at Harvard Extension where we focused on frame animation using Photoshop and Animate as the primary tools.
Art Alive: Paul Cezanne - Still Life with Skull

For the first assignment we started with a famous painting. Students were asked to separate 2 elements from the background and animate them using Adobe Photoshop. Audio was added in Premiere.

Box Ninja: Mid Semester Project
For this assignment we were asked to incorporate runs, jumps, climbs and other activities to show we understood the basics of character animation. To make things extra fun we were told that our character must be a box and must include a lift of a ball object. Created in Adobe Animate.

The Cookie Caper: End of Semester Project
For this assignment we were asked to come up with a character with a desire and show them attain that desire with a twist. I immediately thought of my daughter who is obsessed with the cookie jar even though it's full of the dog's cookies. It's a real struggle and one we hope to remind her of when she's older.

Animation Exercises:
During the course we were assigned several of short animation sprints. Assignments ranged from simple ball bounces to more creative crash-bang-boom exercises and perspective walk cycles.
