Design of Wairoa District Council website
The primary focus for the design of the Wairoa District Council website was to keep the design simple and clean for an improved ease of use and user experience. One of the main goals was to design a website that is accessible for everyone - that meant making sure that the AAA web accessibility standard was achieved.
With a ever rising percentage of people using their mobile phones to surf the web it was especially important that the design worked really well on mobile devices.
Homepage
Simple and clean design with the most clicked pages displayed and clickable to reduce the number of clicks for the user.
Menu
The goal for the menu was to keep it very simple and easy to use. The menu is also bi-lingual in english and te reo māori.
'Do it online' section
This section is only one click away from the homepage and includes everything the user can do online. The filter options at the top make this section easier to navigate and make it quicker for the user to find what they are looking for.
Website Search
Only one click away and easily accessible. From here the user can go straight to 'A to Z', Sitemap and FAQs if they prefer this to using the search.
