The 'Nun-drum' logo consists of two parts, an icon area and a word mark area. The icon area being a spin on the 'flower of life' and 'sacred geometry', the icon that we have thus created is conceptually driven by the name of the magazine 'Nun-drum' who's doing what. so therefore the icon is an icon that can form an infinite amount of shapes and there is one singular shape that it stands for , thus being a conundrum  it consists of a hexagon verged together with a circle which has been rotated around a thirty degree angle, this in the end creates the final icon area.

Together the word mark and icon area create the 'Nun-drum' logo which would be used on all branded piece’s to do with our fold-out-publication.

Means of communication:

The message and concept has come to life through… Num-Drum. I’m sitting here and the project is done. We have successfully helped break some sort of publication limitation.  The ‘goal’ was to change people’s perspective on what is possible, with an innovative approach, to what is usually about as attractive as a decomposing snail.  The contemporary format of the publication industry is way past its sell-by-date. Hopefully this will help force some of the crap we’re forced to read off the shelf and out of our consciousness.

The concept is clarity; the idea is to answer a simply complex question; who’s doing what in Cape Town? We are going to take a complex design, write information on one side, brand the other, and as you ‘simplify’ the design you will read through the lines and at the end of it all, some of Cape Town’s creative energy will be explained, challenged and praised.

The publication comes in a Super Origami Ball (MBO,Nov20,2009). Num-Drum consumers will have to unravel and explore the complex folds of the origami shape to read each piece published. The shape is designed around the icon of the logo, to reinforce the logo, and the fact that 'Nun-drum' is not only about the articles but is primarily a celebration of eco-design.

Once the publication is unfolded you will be presented with a 60 cm x 30cm page. On the front of each publication will be an illustration done by a young talented individual which 'Nun-drum' will showcase (for the first issue we have stuck with the logo as brand awareness is the key of importance when launching our brand 'Nun-drum' . on the flip side of the 60 x 30 cm page you will be presented with four articles revolving around a similar topic for each issues publication.
