Benny the Beaver had been the City College mascot since the 1930s. But few remembered him. Nearly a century later, in 2018, the college bookstore was also in jeopardy of being a fading memory since selling textbooks went virtual. That left behind an empty space that the college wanted to fill with spirit gear.
Enter BICsters.
It started as a nine month branding project by BIC students Vivi Billesoe, Iara Camona, Kacy Charles, and Surabhi Govindarajan to create a brand identity for the on-campus spirit store. But on April 30, 2018, the City College campus experienced bonafide Benny MANIA as the school mascot strutted his stuff beyond the spirit store to spots all across campus.
