Case study on Melinda Gibson and David Hockney's "Joiner"
Our task was to do a case study on Melinda Gibson and David Hockney's Joiner works and create a series of 3-5 images based on your study of the experimental intent for a campaign which is related to our project call " congregational noise issue in the neighbourhood"

The campaign that we are working on was to incorporate nature into the envirmoment for the neighbourhood, so i have experiment on the photography style of Melinda Gibson and David Hockney's combine. Using free stock images and google images, i create something that is related to my campaign which is link to nature which will be located under the Singapore (HDB) void deck.

Experimental Process

In the process of creating these work, i though of how can this experimental photography be used in my campaign, the idea was to combine nature and technology into residents common spaces. Each piece is composed of two separate parts, where the same sized images are manipulated into one; placed under or over one another, parts have been removed, discarded while others have been added. Each image is an appropriation of an original, re-organised with additional elements that makes itself into a new original. Through this deconstruction we start to gain a greater appreciation of the works and start understanding why and how these photographers, these images have become so prominent.

Reflection

When doing this project it is easy to create an experimental photography but after the art work is done, it has to have a deep impress of the work you have done to be able to relate to the audience. as art work can be create in any form but the story behind the art work as to be shown in it. i also learnt new experimental photography which is added knowledge to know as a designer.

When doing the image that was inspired by David Hockney's "Joiner" works, it is rather more tough but it does require more time and effort as if without Photoshop, It might be easier doing the traditional way, by printing and carefully piecing many small slices of image together.
