Steam Locomotive Movement
Interactive stand with original Су253-15 steam locomotive for railroad museum. Locomotive is lifted up to ensure wheels free rotation by an asynchronous motor. Special effects is used to create steam coming out of engine. Three-channel sound system creates sonic illusion of moving locomotive and custom designed speaker replaces original steam whistle.
Simatic S7 PLC is used in multimedia automation system. Installation runs on schedule programmed in PLC and has an ability of on demand start via guide tablet. Web-based museum control system, which runs on dedicated main control server, sends commands directly to PLC via TCP/IP connection. Custom built four digits seven-segment LED display shows time to the next show, indicate alarms and service messages. Display is connected to the PLC via Ethernet (TCP/IP Protocol).
Steam effects controlled by solenoid valves. For historical and technical accuracy, two optical SICK laser sensors used to determine phases of valves opening according to the position of the real valve gear.
