The Pear Tree

Identity and branding for a new theatre venue in Perth, named after the first royal acting and musical academy in China founded by Emperor Ming in his garden full of pear trees. The Pear Tree, appearing during the Fringe World festival, would be home to various weird and wonderful circus-style performances and the brand needed to reflect this sense of eccentricity and opulence. 

The brand is a contemporary nod to Victorian travelling circuses, organic ornamental design and vintage Eastern weirdness. Accompanying illustrations were developed as a combination of original artwork and reimagined vintage drawings.
