"Saturnin" is a humorous novel about an ingenious butler by the same name
and his modest master, written by Czech writer Zdeněk Jirotka.
It was released in 1942 and still, it is one of the most loved novel in Czech Republic.

_______

The original look of this book was created by Adolf Born, well-known Czech cartoonist. His character style is what I imagine when we talk about classic Czech illustration. So, it was a great honour to re-invent character look for the Ukrainian edition of this novel.

The text is very juicy with details and jokes, you dive in and become a part of this strange community. That is why I wanted to put all significant characters on the cover.

However, I've put the protagonist / narrator on the spine, because it reflects how I understand the book: it is more about other characters than about Saturnin or his master. They both are small-sized, but with a hint of 3D. I wanted to emphasize them, to make them more visible in this mess, but without putting them in the center. It would be a great pleasure for me, if readers will come back to the cover and guess who is who on it
