MALAFAMA
Malafama is a nano-brewery located in Montevideo, Uruguay. It is best known for its experimental character and constant innovation.
We were comissioned the packaging design for Malafama's 1 year aniversary celebration's Double Sour beer.
This limited edition beer tastes sour and similar to Haribo gummies and berries, hence the name.
We decided to play along with the idea of sourness (in spanish "ácido") to make the label look like acid tabs. With a regular label on the outside and 98 illustrations on the inside, making this beer a very special edition.
The labels are pre-cut so the drinkers can tear the illustrations apart while drinking.
The label features the text "peel slowly and see" inspired by Warhol's "The Velvet Underground" iconic peel-off sleeve design.
To make these illustrations we used a timer to draw a doodle a minute while we tasted the beer.
Only a limited amount of 200 cans where printed.
