Another Advanced Media assignment. This is the first sculptureassignment ever given, and my first sculpture ever created. It wasactually a lot of fun, despite the fact I resented doing it at first, only because of my senior thesis workload. It was interesting howuseful the turn around sketch became when translating 2D to 3D. I hadalways seen it done for character models in animation but neverrealized how much info you need to rely on until I attempted thesculpting.
It began with an armature wire sculpture as a basicshape, in this case a sphere. Then tinfoil was added to create theshape of the head (as seen in the sketch) to create a surface for theSculpy to bond to. Then I created each feature out of Sculpyindividually. In the end I got rid of the military cap because itcovered his face. I think the fez is was cooler anyway. I really wishthat I had taken pictures of the entire process though.
