Purpose: revive & rebrand Corvin Castle in Hunedoara
Items: brand identity; rehabilitation of the interiors; seasonal exhibitions
Brand identity solution - an old Romanian word meaning mother [ima] which to us resembled the courtyard of the castle: its womb; the geometry is an image found in the castle which we stylized
The old entrance of the castle is a narrow, round and tall space, poorly conserved. We proposed a stop here so as to let the visitor contemplate & breathe.
We wanted the surrounding area to be part of the itinerary beacause we consider everything around the castle a witness and a partaker in the history of the Corvin Castle.
Another stop has an informative carachter: metal panels present facts and stories about the castle.
We emphasised the entrance of the castle by creating a narrow passageway so as to create an even broader feeling for the visitors when they reach the vast courtyard.

The visitor can start with any one of the journeys, stop whenever he wants to and end where he likes.
We used the differently build doors to create and emphasize the differences between the 3 journeys.
The entrance symbolizes the entrance into the womb of the castle.
The garden is a place for art installations and seasonal fairs or festivals that will engage the local community.
The old entrance is now used as an art exhibition.
The two main halls are big enough to host most of the historical explenations of the castle.
The brand identity is clean and monochrome.
The main idea behind the name is the double meaning: ima is mother and inima is heart in Romanian. In is a preposition and means in, just like in English. So the name plays with all of these meanings and with the layout of the castle's plan - with a medieval center courtyard used for defence, just like a mother's womb.
To understand the castle and its history you must venture inside. Then you will percieve the outside world with different eyes.
