This video is made for the 2019 Shanghai 3x3 Basketball Youth Tournament. The aim of the video is to promote the tournament and to invite people join the game in this summer. It is a huge honor that we had 2 super stars as the image spokesman for the game, one is the very famous young Chinese actor - Wu Lei and the other is one of the best Chinese basketball athletes - Liu Wei.

Since Shanghai is also called as "MODU" - the magic city. We create the story all based on the theme "magic" which is also the name of the tournament. In the story, Liu Wei become a powerful magician and he is using his power to create a magical basketball match in Shanghai Pudong. He turns the landmark of Shanghai - the Oriental Pearl Tower into a basketball and build a whole new magical basketball court near Huangpu River. An exciting match is about to begin.

For the scene design, we created magical Shanghai night and basketball court with neon lights and mysterious atmosphere.

For the character design, we used Maya and Zbrush for the modelling of all 7 characters. And we used Marvelous Designer for the costume design. It takes 2 weeks for the entire modelling especially for those 2 main characters.

In terms of basketball actions, we do the motion capture for all movements including passing, catching, running and the final dunk and manually add face expression for the key shots of 2 main characters. The 3x3 basketball game is different from normal 5x5 game, the pace is much faster and it all happened in half court. We design a lot of ways in planning the movement and corporation between players and in order to highlight our main star character's dunk in the end. We had learnt a lot while we were doing this project. It is quite challenging for us and very interesting as well. Finally we got quite fluent and exciting result in our video.

It was widely broadcasted in all the railways in Shanghai during the entire summer. And we are quite happy that it is quite successful in terms of promoting the game and youth basketball sport itself.
