Card (Bifold): Sweet Bells and Bouquet
Card (Bifold): Sweet Bells and Bouquet
Oct. 2017
For my cousin’s wedding, I designed her a horizontal bi-fold card in the style of 1950s wedding cards wishing the newlyweds well. I began with reference photos of the bride and groom, and largely made up elements of their dress and bouquet. First I had sketched out the design digitally, transferred the sketch to a thicker paper, and then inked the whole illustration in basic linework.

All of the color was added digitally, with the color in the inkwork digitally colored as well.

Since the final format of the card was going to be print, I had designed the illustration for any bleed by extending the edge of the patterned backdrop. Below is the cropped mockup for the final trimmed version of the card.

The pattern that was digitally designed was applied on an interior backdrop. Lastly, I wrote a poem for the occasion.

Both the interior and exterior was printed on the same piece of glossy cardstock, and manually scored for the fold. The final dimensions of the card were 7” x 5”.
Happily be!
