Sounds in the City (July, 2019)
Workshop design + facilitation + graphic design + photography
Ministère de la Santé et des Services Sociaux (MSSS)
Ministère de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques (MELCC)
École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS)
Co-designed an afternoon workshop on best practices for environmental noise management with Catherine Guastavino (Université McGil), Thomas Dupont (ÉTS), an organizing committee and the McGill Sounds in the City team.
Multidisciplinary teams shared their expertise and experiences with one another as they worked to improve the sound environments on three different case studies: 1.) A quiet zone park area being disrupted by construction; 2.) A high-rise building being constructed adjacent to an artery; and 3.) A residential area undergoing significant commercial development. The goal was for participants to share ideas and expertise, identify challenges and solutions, and form new professional relationships to seed potential future collaborations. Participants included urban planners, sound professionals, health professionals, designers, engineers, elected officials, managers, researchers, professors, scientists and others.
I was responsible for organizing and managing the event, co-facilitating the day-of, creating the case studies and content, writing copy and articles, designing event materials, and shooting photography.
