Trickster Tales
February to May 2010
February to May 2010
For my final long project at University I decided to create a book.
It developed from a loose narrative with a focus on the image-making and eventually was stripped down to a children's picture book. It helped to give the book an identity and is still very picture-heavy.
The narrative was shortened for the nature of the audience, sometimes to one or no sentences on a single page.
At a size of 260 x 170 mm, the book is an unusual shape, and feels aesthetically appropriate and has a nice tacility.
I entered the pencil-draft of my book into the MACMILLAN PRIZE FOR CHILDREN'S BOOK ILLUSTRATIONS 2010 and received a 'Highly Commended' award.
There is only 2 copies of the book, and I hope to reproduce it at a later date.
