Majin Apparel — Vrat Isla Via

Clothing Brand from the City of Hundred Bridges.
London, Los Angeles, Milan, Paris - these are the cities that most of us connect directly to fashion trade but have you ever heard about a place called Wroclaw?

That's a polish city located in Lower Silesia - south-western part of the country. With it's fenomenal history and multicultural background it was truly a perfect match for an upcoming clothing brand - MAJIN Apparel.

Why this city then?
After several years in design trade, multiple delivered projects as well as living abroad - it was about time to create a brand that combines all this gained knowledge, experience and creativity with perfect craftmanship and highest manufacturing standards. All that here, at 'home' - and by doing so it was only fair to give this place proper respect - making it the first project within the upcoming range of products.
Following the latest street fashion trends from places like London, Ibiza and Amsterdam - I was able to design and create a complete piece of clothing working with local companies as well as giving it that unique and uncommon look & feel - inspired and filled with this city spirit.

Here's a complete guide of What & Why - or as I call it - a Design Guide (of which a shortened version is added inside the packaging as well). Have a great read!

The Melting Pot of Ideas
While trying to maintain uniqueness of this project I've decided to work around it by showing the real-life elements and parts of this city like coat of arms* (you can see and read more about it here), architecture & more - just like with (we all know the danish brand) bricks/parts - break it apart, create something new!
* because of law/copyrights I could not use a picture of the official coat of arms here by myself, sorry.

The coat of arms itself combines of 5 elements and that's how it was re-designed. It was also the source of colour range while as the Vrat Isla Via comes from splitting latin name of Wroclaw.

'Reverse Engineering'
Designing the final elements was the hardest part. I had to do it this way so it still refers to the original coat of arms/monuments but then creates a brand new symbol at the same time - all that to be created as a specific clothing add.
Lions head from coat of arms + a padlock from Tumski Bridge
Emblem shape + a cross from St. Dorothea's Church roof
"W" initial combined with Vrat lettering
Upside down crown + braid from St. Dorothea's part of coat of arms
St. John the Baptist's head on a silver platter

Eagle + cross from coat of arms
Historic Water Tower
Lion's tail from coat of arms
Medieval / Minimalist typography

The Final Product
After coming up with all these bits & pieces it was time to make it happen - plan out everything in regards to manufacturing and put it all together afterwards. Here's how it looks like in real-life!

About the City
There's one thing that troubles me the most when talking about Poland with friends from abroad - people never mention Wroclaw - it's always Warsaw and Krakow. Hopefully this project will make you feel like "We need to go there one day!" - the flights are cheap, the food is awesome, the experience amazing and the atmoshpere here? Not to be forgotten!
