BARCELONA

BARCELONA is a collection of moments captured in a fast way, without much though or preparation, inspired by the works of Daido Moriyama and Takuma Nakahira. With a camera or many times with just a phone, the goal was to capture feelings, places, people without thinking about things like composition, lighting or even focus. Taking photography to a different level and trying to achieve the same looks and objectives as these artists I take you to one amazing trip documented here in a series of black and white stills.

Yet, what seized me in that moment was not the level of quality of the individual art works, but a perverse astonishment that came from the recognition that many contemporary artists had confronted the same unexpectedly deep labyrinth posed by the absolute impossibility of expression and creation in precisely the present moment, an age which forces each of us to ask,

what does it mean to express something,
what does is mean to create something, in this era today?

“I believe that photography is neither creation nor memory, but documents. The act of shooting a photograph is not something abstract. It is always concrete. No manipulation to make simple things complicated through conceptualization. Only the real I encountered through the medium of the camera is here in my photographs.”
Takuma Nakahira
