This was created for my Final Major Project at university. It is a book showcasing a brief selection of cryptids from around the world. At first glance it appears to be completely blank; with the help of the UV torch the contents appear.
I chose to create an invisible book as I believed it was a prefect fit for these creatures that are very rarely seen by people. I’ve been wanting to experiment with invisible ink for a while and this project allowed me to do this.
Originally I wanted to screen-print the entire book, but when I was unable to find something that gave me a completely invisible outcome, I needed to decide on something else. In the end I used invisible ink made for an inkjet printer. Once I had cleaned out my printer of existing normal ink, the invisible ink worked like a charm.
As this was my final project for university, we had a show to display our work. This display was open to the public and several local graphic design studios attended as well. The idea behind my show space was for it to look like a library which my book was part of. The shed I housed it in was already originally in our university graphics studio but it was the perfect fit for my book and display.
As well as creating a book, I also needed to create a digital outcome to accompany it. I chose to create a website that sticks with the idea of hiding the information just like my book did. To view the website, click the button below.
