Exploring NASA

Exploring NASA was first exhibited as multiple projections on the exterior of the Figge Art Museum in conjunction with the Smithsonian's NASA | 50 Years of Exploration exhibition. The largest multiple projection was 90' in length.

These projections were then displayed at the State Historic Museum of Iowa, Des Moines, IA; the Contemporary Art Center, Peoria, IL; Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL and the ArtSpace Gallery, Black Hawk College, Moline, IL.

Currently - July-September 2, 2019 - the projection videos are displayed on six monitors along with five recent graphite drawings on paper at the Quad City International Airport Gallery.

The Exploring NASA videos are accompanied by very different music. Progressive Metal, of course, for the this one. Others have punk, rap, rock, ambient soundtracks. This video was inspired, in large part, by one of my teachers at the University of Iowa, Dr. James Van Allen. Van Allen created the first science experiment that was sent into orbit. This experiment confirmed the existence of the Van Allen radiation belts.
