Ecofeminism inspired by Frida

Greeda is a project focused on ecofeminism that connects Italian environmentalists through articles, videos and podcasts.
Its website is mobile-first and fully responsive and it was created on a WordPress theme called Roneous. I set up the structure managing widgets, specific plugins and editing the HTML and CSS of the theme. To this, I added illustrations and images that I created with my graphics tablet on Illustrator and Photoshop.
I wanted the website to be slightly different from what we usually see when we navigate blogs or online magazines about sustainability. I wanted it to be vibrant and colorful, able to meet the growing needs of young women who are tech-savvy and expect to interact with a functional and captivating website.

We are such stuff as flowers are made on

My attempt to reconnect humans to nature thanks to a photograph taken by Ezekixl Akinnewu. Here, graphic elements enhance femininity through an explosion of colors and natural beauty. I wanted to communicate
a sense of belonging to the Earth we live on; the woman sleeps quietly among ferns and flower petals as if it were the only place where she could feel protected and at peace.

Great Women - Series

In order to celebrate the International Women’s Day, I started a series of illustrations as a tribute to famous, strong and independent women that have left through their actions a special print on Earth. The image in question is inspired by Frida Kahlo and has also been published on Greeda’s Instagram profile. Nonetheless, the woman depicted in this illustration isn’t exactly Frida.

In fact, I added details such as afro hair and piercings that do not belong to her. This is because the aim of this series isn’t just a mere depiction of a famous feminine figure but rather an exploration of how these great women are influencing our current generation and how we embody their style, philosophy and discoveries.

Destinazione Umana

For the project Greeda and its podcast section, I have designed a series of illustrations which represent Italian women who are running green businesses and working towards a more sustainable future for my country. Destinazione Umana is the name of a fantastic travel agency owned by Silvia Salmeri. The final aim of this agency is to organise travels not focused on the place but on the experience itself.

For Silvia, the concept of sustainability is about reconnecting people through humanity, spirituality and more natural and slower rhythms. In this illustration, the woman's hair is composed by autumn and spring leaves, a bicycle that embodies a green and smart mobility, a suitcase and a paper aeroplane that symbolise, instead, a romantic and spiritual concept of travelling.

Negozio Leggero

Negozio Leggero is the name of a shop chain where people can buy bulk products. In this way, single-use plastic containers are avoided: For example, you can bring your own glass jar and fill it with pasta, cereals and other types of dry food. Also, Negozio Leggero produces its own perfumes and soaps that are sold with eco-friendly packages.

This illustration represents the president of Negozio Leggero, Cinzia Vaccaneo, altogether with her zero waste love and lifestyle. I decided to draw just a few elements following a minimalist style: Flowers and leaves to symbolize the importance of the environment and a glass jar that explains the idea on which Negozio leggero is based on.

Marevivo

Marevivo Onlus is an Italian non-profit organisation whose objective is to raise awareness about our endangered seas and oceans that are constantly polluted by plastic products and chemicals. The focus of this organisa- tion is on education, one of the most important social aspects we need to improve in order to prepare our kids to a brighter and more sustaina- ble future.
This illustration portrays a woman with curly blue hair to symbolize the sea where happy fishes and turtles can swim in clean, plastic-free waters. A boat with "Marevivo" written on it represents the trip towards sustainability that Rosalba and Carmen - president and vice-president of this organisation - have been on since 1987.
