FairWind "Myuziq" / art directing
Everything most probably started when the guys from FairWind decided it’s time to drop an album. Then perhaps they realized it would be even better if they had a physical album on top of the digital one. And this is when we met and began discussions on the details.
We were first considering a CD but dropped the idea as that format is no more relevant for many people. Then we arrived at the idea of releasing a USB album but brushed off that one too as it kind of reminded of a corporate gift. Vinyl was next, but it was not fitting production deadlines and the date we wanted to release the album. And only after weighing all the factors, the background of the band, the sound, philosophy and details of the music and the title of the album – “Myuziq” – we decided on a cassette tape and were surprised why the idea hadn’t occurred to us before everything else, probably as it’s a little too obvious. At the same time all of us wanted to remind one more time how cool the 90s with the analog life and more true stuff around us were.
Everything that followed was easy: the photo, the box and why there has to be a pencil in it, finding old cassettes so that each of them are different, obtaining a cassette deck for duplicating the tapes. A month later, we have the cassette with its story, a handful of other stories and the pencil with its instruction manual. In short, we are pleased.
