Kenneth Anger

The avant-garde best known for his disturbing yet gorgeous short films, touching on sensitive topics such as occult and homoeroticism. His works are highly controversial and symbol-heavy.

Lucifer Rising (1972)
A short film about the Egyptian gods summoning Lucifer; also known as the angel, in order to usher in a new occult age, making lucifer as a 'god' rather than a devil, and the balance found between both good and evil.
Lucifer Rising (1972) | Phoenix FilmBar
Fireworks (1942)
A homoerotic and sado-masochism short film about a dreamer waking up from his bed dissatisfied and visits the 'Gents'; a hypnotic journey through his own unconscious, or a dream of dream to seek his 'light'.
Fireworks (1947) | Rolf Wirl
After thoughts and Reflection
Kenneth Anger's approach is extremely daring and out of the norm, without the fear of being criticised by others. He paid equally many details on the background music of his the film to further enhance and express the theme, especially when there are no dialogues in his films, and I think this is highly admirable.

His approach is definitely not easy to model after for work and projects, and especially when the themes he explored with are sensitive in many different cultures, and requires a lot of courage and risk in doing so. However, it was an interesting study and something to explore further in to for personal interest.
