Maya Deren: A Study in Choreography for Camera (1945)
This short film focuses on body movement and dance choreography. It is very simple and has np speech or vocal and no story to it, but its transition from the forest, where she started out going around the forest cleverly, creating a loop feeling. She then move to the dancer's focus, and used the dancer's leg lowering into a transition from forest to the room, followed having a wide shot to show the dancer is in a new room.
Next, when the guy started dancing around, she transition the dancer's next step with the next shot which was a museum's floor. The transition was almost flawless as the ground of the room and museum was similar, until she panned up to reveal the new location where the guy is dancing further in the museum
When the guy returns closer, when his feet stamps on the floor to stop, she times it with a close up shot of the guy's face and expression, and what may seem like its a slow motion of him spinning, which slowly increases his speed of spinning. She even had a Extreme Close up shot of his face, spinning before the close up on his feet spinning which is actually shot back in the room.
Followed by when the dancer was about to leap after spinning in room, she transition into him jumping but in forest this time. She had multiple extreme close up shots of the dancer, like his face, his legs, his body and hands, repeating the shots. And when the dancer landed, it was a different shot and location, it was not the same shot or location from his jump.
