125 years were enough for the bridge D. Luís I became one of the most iconic places of Porto.
Although the official name of the bridge is “Luiz I” as attested by the inscriptions on the plates of the pillars on
the entries of the lower deck, the population of Porto has always called “Bridge D. Luís”, safeguarding the title of the king with whom the city was very close. However, the Arc Sidebar seems its antithesis. Instead of a magnanimous piece of engineering, Bat eye create a work piece by the hand of the artisan, with an interior designed and carefully finished in satin wood, metal joining the margins is now support base.
Finally, we leave aside the monochrome and dress the part with tiles painted by hand. The same that wear the city of Porto and the same that all tourist love.
“ What nature divided doth man unite. Two banks and a bridge put them talking. “
