BIO MATERIAL / IYA BIQUARA

The name Iya Biquara stems from the indigenous Brazilian language, Tupi Guarani. Translated it means “Conscious Earth”, which originates from the ancient belief that our planet is a living, breathing, conscious organism.
Kombucha collection is a final year project footwear collection created using only sustainable and ethical materials that have little to no waste. The impermeable and biodegradable material can decompose within months in the right solution and without causing environmental harm. In addition, the 3D printed soles are composed of 100% recycled plastic, this helps reduce the current single use and recycling problem with plastic products.

The main source of inspiration for these designs were the human body and cell and bone structure.

This collection aims to stand for more than just the current fashion trend. It aims to make a statement regarding the 21st century’s excessive use of unethical material, environmental pollution and lack of human rights, and how these can be changed.
