What happens when you see a medical emergency on the Boston Subway system? Do you step in? Step out? Hope someone steps in for you? Fighting bystander syndrome, I designed the MBTA Med Button. This creation builds on the current emergency protocol of the MBTA that is "See something, Say something" and finally allows and encourages people to "Do something" about it, not just wait until it passes. This Med Button creates a user-friendly systematic approach to various medical emergencies that could happen on the "T". It encourages bystanders to step in, allows for trained professionals to access the situation easily while minimizing the time and obstacles. The deliverables of this project can be used as an awareness campaign and as a public announcement, as if to explain the new MBTA Med Button being added to each subway car.
