Sri Lanka Tourism X Caring & Sharing



The Tourism Development Authority in Sri Lanka was receiving countless complaints about tourists being abused- sexually and otherwise. This was indirectly damaging the Sri Lanka Tourism brand and the country as a whole. To address this issue, the authority decided to roll out a program to ensure that foreigners who visit Sri Lanka are safe, comfortable and happy during their stay. This program included everything from training local taxi drivers to providing safe eating, safe bedding and trained tour guides. The main objective was to let the foreigners know that the country is a safe place and that they will be taken care of from the moment they arrive and till they depart. The logo and the slogan ‘caring & sharing’ captures the essence of the message that the Tourism Board wanted to share with the visitors. 

Future developments of the campaign included an app that helps visitors to get around the country. Although there’s a number of apps and sites that help people to find taxis and accommodation around the country, this is the only app that includes approved and certified taxi services, tour guides, hotels and restaurants by the Tourism Development Authority of Sri Lanka and are said to be of the highest quality.
