Dimitri Theatre
The project for the Dimitri Theater was carried out during the semester dedicated to soft skills. In this semester all the faculties of SUPSI-DACD have dedicated themselves to this theme.
We could choose an area of intervention at our leisure, what seemed to us the most suitable for a change.
I focused on the entrance of the theater, as it is now little appreciated. This entrance is located inside a small courtyard which leads to the South via a building.

Concept
As mentioned before, the theater entrance is visible only after entering the court. For this reason, the idea is to enhance the entrance by designing a new form giving the perception of being directed towards the court.
I was inspired by the curtains of the theaters, made of burgundy velvet. I tried to revisit its forms by adapting materials that are suitable for a reality like that of Verscio. This is why I chose to use an economic material: the OSB.
This material, besides being easily available, has an interesting texture.

The form of the drapery will be stylized in straight shapes able to be made of wood. In addition, the front of this shape will be painted in bordeaux, recalling the color of the curtain.

Everything will be covered by a roof that incorporates the same shape, further accentuating it. The same concept will be taken up on it, inspired by the shapes of festoons. In addition, the lighting system will be integrated, so as to further enhance the entrance during the evening shows.
Structure plan
The realization of the form foresees that a superfluous space is formed. So I thought to design a door that will allow access to that space where you can deposit material.
The outdoor courtyard can be used to revive shows in the warmer seasons. For this reason, that space can become the background of the show.
In this regard, I thought of a white curtain that runs along the back wall thanks to a thread stretched from one side of the court to the other. This curtain will be used as a backdrop for the shows, hiding the present structure and once finished it can be kept inside the structure’s space.
Detail of the structure, plant and view
The handle detail is designed in a brass tubular, a material that binds with the color of the wood. At the height of the handle grip there will be a rope part that recalls the materials used by the theater.
