An artist collective was brought together to create an urban hacking project with Istanbul Comics and Arts festival. The artist collective aimed to hack certain parts of Kadikoy. My project started with the question “what is the contribution of public art to the city’s identity?” The most popular icon that comes to mind when one thinks of Kadikoy is the Bull statue. I wanted to dissociate and reevaluate the meaning invested by the public within the statue, while also considering its historical background. I relocated the statue I made in unexpected spaces mainly defined by nature and not public squares. In doing so, I questioned public reactions and environmental psychology.
