MY INTERPRETATION OF HER CREATIVE STRUGGLE
She stuck to her family through thick and thin, not once complaining, stoic in her confined existence.
If I had to carry the privilege of representing her I would work on her muse, family; One that remained rooted to her childhood days, extended to the society that ostracized her for being barren, to her husband who kept her imprisoned for 15 years to allow pent up emotions that proved fertile for her creativity and eventually inherited by the apple of her eye, her son and finally to her daughter-in-law who is proudly carrying on the artist’s tradition. Sonabai not only broke the glass ceiling by giving wings to her colourful aspirations but opened up the vast horizons of the whole blue sky for women like herself.
