Aabu is an indie rock/grunge band from Bologna (Italy) with a hard, rough and scratching sound. The first album “Basta Scegliere” released in 2016 (aabu-Zumpapa editions) recieved good reviews and recognition by experts and insiders. After that, the band went on a tour with some artists of the Italian music scene (I Ministri, Ex-Otago, La Colpa, Les Enfants and many others). At the beginning of 2018, Aabu started a Musicraiser campaign to selfproduce the new album, and they reached 120% of their goal. The new album “Abbiamo ancora bisogno di urlare” (”We still need to scream”) is recorded at Duna Studio in Russi (RA) by Andrea Duna Scardovi and was released in 2018, November 9.

Concept

A record in which the quintet breaks patterns and hesitations, finally freeing the scream remained repressed for too long: a sort of a little modern-day Munch’s The Scream, in this historical period marked by apathy, superficiality and standardization.

At the heart of the lyrics of the album there is the pressing need to yell, to break the habit and the monotony, all supported by powerful sound with noisy guitars and a profound effect rhythm section. “We Still Need to Scream” is moreover recorded live in studio on magnetic tape: this is a choice of position in the age of digitalization, a back to the basics which means a high level of authenticity of the band

This is how the band describes the album:

“We are the Aabu and that’s our second album, our daily scream.

We have lost a war which never was ours.

We don’t trust anymore, not even of the ”I love you”. Especially of the “I love you”.

Everything has been already invented.

There are a few nights that we don’t forget, the rest of the time we just get used to the boredom.

We are collateral effects. We are the sum of all the wrong things and no one is coming to save us if we don't even know how to scream.

The fresh faces don’t no longer knows which cheek turns.

This is the slaves uprising.”

We’ve all been through moments of rage in which we would have liked to scream until our throat get hurt. We found in grotesque situation, where it was better remain in silence even though the desire to let off steam was huge. This album talks about us and you. It’s the scream remained repressed for too long.

We all still need to scream.
