As part of my funded year by the fondsBKVK, I walked through twelve backcountry tracks in two and a half months time. These tracks took me to coastal and mountain areas of the North and South Island of New Zealand, and my trips varied in duration from two to ten days.

Inspired by this adventure, I made six silkscreens each with three information layers. The first layer showed the title tracks, or the amount of many days I walked these tracks. The second layer shows the average wind direction from that specific day derived from the closest weather station to where I was that day. By the wind direction you can read the weather situation - important to note is that New Zealand is known for its rapid changes in weather. The third layer of colour refers to the difficulty of the terrain and track. These flour colours are also used in the weather cartography.
