Solitude - Is a short film directed by music producer and Latin Grammy winner Linda Briceño and produced by Yelitza Gonzalez. It reflects a personal migration story and the struggle musicians face in search for their dreams. 

 

I directed the art of this piece, designed the characters, color all backgrounds and animated everything on iPad Pro, using Procreate and Rough Animator for the 2D traditional animation. Later, Alejandro and I worked on the cameras using After Effects.

 

The project took 4 months to get done.

All backgrounds were done on Procreate and took 3 weeks of the process.

While animating on Rough Animator for iPad, I wasn’t able to test camera movements nor export with the background. So every 2d sequence had to be export with a chroma key ready background that will later be replaced on After Effects.

Due to the nature of the story, and the relation between our personal quests as refugees and migrants, many people cried and shared the video on social media. 

This was my first time doing a large animated project, and I’m proud to say 90% of it was done with my iPad. An absolutely rewarding experience. I now have an online course on how to quickly animate illustrations with Rough Animator.
