Monarch Hemp Chair

The Monarch Chair was experiment into alternatives to find more eco friendly materials. We took a look at current composite processes and the materials currently used as an industry standard. We felt that there was an opportunity to subsitute materials like fibreglass and carbonfibre for a much more environmental sustainable material, Hemp.
It has been said that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly's wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world - Chaos Theory

The Monarch chair attempted to fulfill this idea. One small change in material choice can ultimately cause a global change around the world toward environmentalism

During the show we allowed people graffetti all over the chair. If you have ever been to Queen West, Toronto  you would understand the reasoning behind this. Queen West is an area known for its artistic habitiates. The streets are lined with unique artistic stores as well an array of beautiful graffetti art across many of the buildings facade.

*Also our hemp lampshade made from all the spare hemp we had left over.
