ESTAÇÃO ANTÁRTICA COMANDANTE FERRAZ
O entorno e as condições ambientais do projeto obrigam a uma estratégia de desenho fundamentada nos seguintes parâmetros: adaptação ao meio, consumo energético e industrialização.
ADAPTAÇÃO AO MEIO
Os edifícios funcionalmente especializados, Laboratórios, Habitacional e Manutenção, conseguem com sua configuração circular e estratégica disposição, uma melhor adaptação e mínimo impacto. A área Habitacional disposta na zona central distancia os laboratórios dos locais de manutenção evitando possíveis distorções nos trabalhos de investigação. Esta configuração se aplica tanto aos fortes ventos como ao aproveitamento máximo da radiação solar. Para vento procedente do Sul, obtemos uma aerodinâmica aonde o edifício menor protege os outros edifícios. Para vento Oeste, a forma circular e a fachada inclinada evitam superdimensionar à estrutura pelo coeficiente de penetração.
CONSUMO ENERGÉTICO
Para reduzir o consumo energético a estratégia utilizada é o Captador Solar. Consiste na construção de uma câmara de ar sobre a cobertura exterior de aço inoxidável cuja envolvente de vidro permite o aquecimento do ar necessário para a renovação interior e reduz em 20 % o consumo dos climatizadores.
Por outra parte, todos os locais dispõem de janelas ao exterior, o que permite uma redução da demanda elétrica pelo aproveitamento da iluminação natural na época de maior atividade. O suprimento à demanda de eletricidade será obtido através de sistemas a biodiesel, eólicos, solares e cogeração, dimensionados com premissas básicas de aproveitamento dos recursos energéticos naturais e a minimização do consumo de combustíveis. As pás dos aerogeradores serão pintadas em cores visíveis à distancia, minimizando interferência com rotas migratórias da avifauna.
INDUSTRIALIZAÇÃO
Finalmente, aplicar um processo industrializado de fabricação e montagem, com repetição de unidades versáteis que admitem diferentes configurações, garante o êxito na fase construtiva, minimiza custos e facilita a manutenção.

ADJUSTING TO THE ENVIRONMNET
The circular shape and strategic location of the buildings, Research, Accommodation and Maintenance, allows us to achieve a maximum environment adjustment and minimum environmental impact. The accommodation area, allocated between the laboratory and the maintenance building, avoids all interference between the two. This carefully thought layout is designed to best endure the existing winds and benefit from maximum solar exposure. Our cluster is aerodynamically shielded against the southern winds by the Laboratory building. The circular shape of the buildings and their tilted façades reduces the eastern winds drag factor avoiding any oversized structure.
ENERGY CONSUMPTION
In order to reduce energy consumption the main strategy will be to use the Solar Collector: A second glass enclosure placed over the stainless steel roofs creates a solar heated air chamber that will allow a 20% reduction in HVAC consumption by previously heating up interior air.
In addition, all interior spaces will be equipped with facade openings to utilize natural light during the months of maximum activity and reduce electrical demand. The supply of electricity demand will be achieved through a systems of biodiesel, wind, solar and cogeneration sized with basic premises with the use of natural energy resources and minimization of fuel consumption. The blades of the turbines will be painted in colors visible from a distance, which minimizes its interference with migratory routes of birds.
INDUSTRIALIZED ARCHITECTURE
Finally, applying an industrialized design, construction and assembling process, by repeating function-flexible units, allow multiple combinations, guarantees success during the construction stages, minimizes cost and facilitates maintenance.
