Cook & Company — Sea Salt

COOK & COMPANY
Sea salt harvested from the Great Barrier Reef

In 1768, Captain James Cook embarked on his first Pacific voyage aboard his newly commissioned ship HMS Endeavour. His mission was to explore the unknown southern land now known as modern day Australia. The Endeavour would later crash into the Great Barrier Reef—delaying his voyage by weeks but also allowing him to discover the best sea salt known to man.

The packaging is a modern approach to a traditional style, drawing visual cues from 1760s typography; be it the font or hierarchical structure. The black specks represent the flaky nature of sea salt and are raised from the surface of the packaging to provide a tactile experience for the consumer. The outer packaging is made out of recycled card stock and the inner pouch allows for reusability—promoting sustainable packaging.
