Vertical flora bio-filter for living places
The problem with air pollution is becoming more and more severe in the cities and suburbs. Increasing CO2 and air pollutants are becoming one of the most life-threatening factors for heart and respiratory illnesses.
Modern air filters and HVAC systems are costly or either partly effective. Hence, more natural solutions are found - vertical gardens, active biofilters.
By building up plants vertically, living place is used effectively, maintaining large amount of plant area.
This is what my bachelor's project is about - by effectively using living area provide habitants with fresh air using phytoremedation.
Final project covers irrigation, ventilation and control systems. Irrigation system is necessary to provide plants with water and nutrients. Ventilation system is used to make vertical garden an active biofilter by creating airflow or specific speed. Control systems cover main computer, sensors and other necessary electronics.
