Superlambananas
 
Part banana, part sheep, all fibreglass three-dimensional canvas for local artists, these sculptures were based on the Liverpool landmark of the same name by Japanese artist Taro Chiezo.

The design referenced controversial food practices (live export) and also the city's historical connections with the slave industry (in which St George's Hall played a pivotal role).

I was commissioned to decorate one of eight permanent sculptures commemorating Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture. The theme was 'Comedy' and incorporated portraits of famous Liverpool comedians (such as Arthur Askey and Ken Dodd, below).
