In an Abandoned Church Building

The backdrop of this set of photographs was an old church in Chicago that was closed about 30 years ago due to dwindling attendance. Built in 1904, it had served its parishioners over the course of much of the last century. Almost 3 decades after its shuttering, the essence of elegance and grandeur of this Cathedral structure remains, even with parts of its internal wall crumbled baring its structural steel beams and piles of debris scattered about on the floor. The haphazard patches of graffiti now decorated the lower walls seem to mix in warmth and liveliness to the solemn and scrupulous upper structures, bringing some sense of contemporaneous relevance to this decaying old splendor.

A plan has been drawn up to convert the building into a multi-unit condominium while preserving its structure.
