"00:00"

"00:00" is a short film project was made with 100% D.I.Y spirit and passion due to lack of financial support and low budget situation. As an oversea student from Vietnam, I want to make a film to tell my own, as well as other's, story about the very first days while living away from home in a completely strange and different country, about emotions and desperate feeling of nostalgia and being stuck in the middle of messy thoughts.

"00:00" is a thrilling and suspenseful story of an oversea student, our protagonist, who stuck in the middle of his own mind, between the past and the present, afraid to let things go and afraid to change. Being too depressed, he encountered with some mysterious phenomenons that he have never expected or imagined of. How to find an escape when we're cage by our own mind?

As I said in the beginning, due to the low budget, I needed to push myself to work in a very limited and poor condition. However, it gave me a lot of lessons and interesting experiences when I had to use my creativity to turn casual things in my daily life into filmmaking equipments.

We used natural light sources (Ex: table lights) accompanied with cheap LED lights, which are upgraded with draft papers and "instant noodle" box as handmade pan doors to control the light beam better. I also bought a LED light that can be dimmable and change color for better flexibility in color setting. My travel camera - Sony A6300 - was used as the main and only camera to shoot the film. Sony lens 35mm f/1.8 and Canon kit lens 18-55mm were used most of the time.
