This illustration was made for a magazine Mutante (issue nº 6 ), which has used the concept of 'Space' as the overall theme for this issue. (Lisbon /Portugal).
Real vs Virtual
At the top (the darkest part of the image - alluding to a space), the VIRTUAL LIFE is represented. Here we can see the ´world´ where is possible to create a reality of each one's choice. Thus, we can see there two individuals / avatars in a protected capsules, with the environment around them fully controlled and in a perfect order, protected from the external chaos.
In a direct contrast, the lower part of the image - represents the day-to-day REAL LIFE, where we find ourselves completely absorbed and moved by external situations with a very little control to change them.
However, this 'apparently' perfect virtual world is fragile because of its 'unreal' nature and it can fall apart any moment , because it is nothing but a a couple of abstract pixels…
And the 'real' life goes on….
By taking the concept of virtual vs real as a foundation, I have divided the image in two separate 'worlds' through the composition and chromatic difference .
