Cubes (Architecture)

The word "CUBES" itself is derived from the form of the building.

Building is actually the amalgamation of four cubes where each cubes is placed for its individual function. Two cubes consists bedroom with toilet blocks, one consists living lounge and the other one holds kitchen-dining space.

The architecture of 'cubes' is highly influenced by the work of legendary Architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. His saying "LESS IS MORE" works for this project.

The project has a very simple rectangular form. Living, dining and kitchen bounds within one form so that it results into an open & flexible plan with multi functional spaces altogether. Eastern facade of the building is full of glass to allow morning sunlight inside the living spaces. Sliding windows allow us to merge inner spaces with outer spaces (here the outer spaces comprises of backyard deck with a swimming pool).

Western and Southern facade has no opening to obstruct harsh sunlight. Western facade has 3'-6" wide entrance within 14'-0" high standing wall making a curious entry as the other side is not at all visible.

All villas are detached from each other creating an access in between for the pool and garden without disturbing inner spaces and also it acts as service entry for the same during functions at villa. Landscape area has trees bearing different kinds of fruits and vegetables. Its compound wall is avoid of masonry. It has bamboo fence with creepers all over so that one ends its vision with greenery from within.

Architecture justify the statement "Form follows function". Project truly reflects the architect's principles that the form of the building should primarily based upon its intended function or purpose.
