Goudy Old Style is an old style typeface developed by Frederick W. Goudy in 1915. The first consideration while developing this font was the legibility of the text, without preposterous thicks and thins. Through its many distinct features like rounded yet strong serifs, solid lines and unique charm, one can carefully see all the intricate details of Goudy Old Style’s font.
Its grace and balance has made it one of the most legible and readable typefaces in both print and digital applications. It does well to stay highly formulated and consistent throughout the entire typeface.
Since the typeface was widely used for advertising, I have incorporated elements of the famous World War II poster of Uncle Sam pointing outwards to the viewers, asking them to join the US army. It is one of the most recognized advertisements in history, which therefore depicts the typeface’s legibility.
