Johnny B’s is a local sports bar that serves up hamburgers, beer and cocktails. The objective of this project was to create animated GIFs to be used on the company’s social media platforms in order to grab attention with visual interest with the goal to raise awareness. Johnny B’s is a fun place to socialize so I wanted to reflect that attitude in the design by using vivid yellows and a playful easing.
I wanted all of the animations to have the same weight by using similar elements and properties. All vectors were created in Illustrator, centered, and then given an identical eased path in After Effects with the individual layers coming together from top and bottom. Vectors were given ample room to breathe which also helps the GIF stand out in a social media feed as a bright block of yellow. Finally, textures were applied by applying a track matte to “space” video files. Animated nebula's and star patterns created an interesting effect! The nebula is especially noticeable in the beer mug.
