Anubis & Sobek
Anubis & Sobek
Anubis and Sobek were both the ancient Egyptian deities. Anubis was the god associated with mummification and the afterlife in ancient Egyptian religion, usually depicted as a canine or a man with a canine head. And Sobek was associated with the Nile crocodile and is represented either in its form or as a human with a crocodile head.

I imagined the gardian of Pharaoh who was humanistic, and watched the mummy's treasure all the time was bored, so naughty Anubis tried to run away to get some fun. And Sobek, who was more serious, can only stay helpless and angry at Anubis..
I have create the images on I-pad Pro with Procreate. Then, to enhance my "Egyptian stone carving" idea, I decided to add touching sense to my work by using a letterpress. Printed with a metal plate to imprint ink, the paper is stretched to own a bumpy feel, so the details of the picture can be felt by one’s finger touch.
