A look at the development process behind an advertisement for Texas Hold 'Em 3D Poker.
Texas Hold 'Em Poker Advertising Collateral
During my work as Lead Artist of Viva Media LLC, I designed the package for XP Championship Texas Hold ‘Em Poker and was subsequently asked to create a supplementary full-page ad for the game to be included in Deal Magazine. During a creative brief with my employers and a representative from Take Two Interactive (the distribution company), I presented the concept for what would become the final creative:

Headline: Take home a piece of Vegas for the price of a buffet.
Creative: A dusty, old pickup truck speeds along a desert road - its cargo: the iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada” sign.

The idea was approved, contingent upon the fact that there was no budget for production. The final creative would therefore need to rely heavily, if not exclusively, on royalty-free stock photography.

After extensive photo research, I found three RF photos to satisfy the creative (the images were purchased from iStockPhoto for around $10 total). Isolation and compositing were performed in Photoshop yielding a plausible final composite.

Final printed imagery appeared as a full-page advertisement in the Summer 2005 issue of Deal Magazine. The ad was given priority placement in the book in recognition of Creative Excellence.
