Death by Unga Bunga is a psychedelic punk band from Norway. For their wild concert at Tetris club I made a mad poster that gives a nod to the pun ‘bunga bunga’ and to the destructive musical attitude of the band. The ‘bunga bunga’ is an expression that was frequently quoted by the italian and international press during the 2011 investigation surrounding Silvio Berlusconi’s underage prostitution charges and it means — in fact — a sort of orgy where nude young women allegedly encircle the nude rich host and his friends, performing an erotic entertainment. Of course the presence of this chic quotation in the band’s name influenced and commanded the whole design process. An attractive female figure (dressed in gold and surrounded by a rainbow) simbolizes the pleasures and the perversions of the ‘bunga bunga’ feasts. A dark cloud, spreading all above this figure, simbolizes — on the other hand — the ‘death’ and the decline, the obscure side of perversion but also the dark groove of the band. Gloom conceals luxury, psychotic music plays with eccentricity.

Notes:

The author of the ‘golden-dressed woman with rainbow’ photo is not credited here only because he is (still) unknown to me. The image was found on the web and the source looks still now unrecognizable. The work shown here was however made with absolutely no commercial intention. No profit was ever derived from it.
